20 - Chopped green onions or red onion
21 - Finely chopped cilantro
22 - Tortilla chips, tortilla strips, or corn chips

# Steps to Cook:

01 - In a small bowl, combine chili powder, ground cumin, smoked paprika, Mexican oregano, and kosher salt. Stir to blend and set aside.
02 - Heat oil in a deep saucepan or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add chopped onion with a pinch of salt and sauté for 5–6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened and lightly browned.
03 - Sprinkle the prepared seasoning mix over the onions and stir for about 1 minute. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it into small pieces, until browned and coated in seasoning, about 4–5 minutes.
04 - Stir in diced tomatoes, minced garlic, and chopped jalapeño (if using). Cook for 5–6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tomatoes have softened.
05 - Stir in drained black beans and frozen corn. Pour in the beef broth and stir to combine. Bring soup to a simmer over medium-high heat, then reduce heat to medium and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
06 - Add fresh lime juice and chopped cilantro to the soup. Stir to combine, then taste and adjust seasoning with salt or additional lime juice as needed.
07 - Ladle the soup into bowls and garnish with desired toppings such as sour cream, cheese, green onions, cilantro, tortilla chips, and hot sauce.

# Extra Suggestions:

01 - Use 93/7 lean ground beef to avoid excess fat and enhance flavor without needing to drain.
02 - To increase tomato flavor, substitute fresh tomatoes with a 15-ounce can of diced or fire-roasted tomatoes.
03 - To make this dish vegetarian, omit ground beef and add an extra can of beans.
