Sloppy Joe Casserole (Printable Version)

Savory sloppy joe sauce combined with rotini pasta and cheddar for a simple, comforting bake.

# Everything You’ll Need:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 1 pound lean ground beef
02 - 16 ounces cooked rotini pasta
03 - 30 ounces sloppy joe sauce (two 15-ounce cans)

→ Vegetables

04 - 1 small onion, diced
05 - 1 green pepper, diced

→ Cheese

06 - 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided

# Steps to Cook:

01 - In a large pan, cook ground beef with diced onion and green pepper until beef is no longer pink and vegetables are tender. Drain excess grease.
02 - Pour in sloppy joe sauce, stir to combine, and heat until simmering for a few minutes.
03 - Add cooked rotini pasta to the pan and stir thoroughly to coat with sauce.
04 - Stir in 1 to 1½ cups of shredded cheddar cheese until melted and fully incorporated.
05 - Sprinkle remaining cheddar cheese on top, then heat on low until cheese melts completely. Optionally cover the pan to expedite melting. Garnish with parsley if desired.

# Extra Suggestions:

01 - Drain meat well to avoid greasy sauce.
02 - Cook pasta al dente since it will continue cooking in the sauce.
03 - Freshly shredded cheese melts better than pre-shredded.
04 - The sauce thickens as it rests.
