Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Unroll the thawed puff pastry on a clean surface and use a heart-shaped cutter to cut at least 6 hearts. Place hearts on the prepared baking sheet and chill for 10 minutes.

Spread approximately 1 tablespoon of Nutella on half of the chilled puff pastry hearts, avoiding the edges to prevent leakage.

Top each Nutella-covered heart with another heart-shaped pastry, gently pressing and crimping edges with a fork to seal.

Whisk the egg with water to create an egg wash. Brush evenly over the tops of the assembled pastries.

Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown and puffed.

Remove from oven and allow to cool for a few minutes. Optionally dust with powdered sugar and serve with fresh berries or whipped cream.
