Baked Honey Marinated Cod (Printable Version)

Flaky cod fillets glazed with a honey-soy marinade, oven-baked to a tender, caramelized finish.

# Everything You’ll Need:

→ Fish

01 - 4 cod fillets (6 oz each), fresh and thick

→ Marinade

02 - 3 tablespoons honey, high quality
03 - 2 tablespoons soy sauce, regular or low sodium
04 - 1 tablespoon olive oil
05 - 1 teaspoon minced fresh garlic
06 - 1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
07 - 1/4 teaspoon salt
08 - 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
09 - 1 teaspoon dried thyme or 1 tablespoon fresh thyme

# Steps to Cook:

01 - In a medium glass or ceramic bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, black pepper, salt, lemon juice, and thyme until smooth and aromatic. Adjust sweetness or acidity to taste.
02 - Pat cod fillets dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Arrange fillets in a single layer in a 9×13 inch baking dish. Pour marinade evenly over each fillet. Let rest for 15 minutes at room temperature without disturbance.
03 - Preheat the oven to 375°F. Place the uncovered baking dish in the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, depending on fillet thickness, until edges caramelize slightly and fish flakes easily with a fork.

# Extra Suggestions:

01 - Patting the fish dry before marinating ensures better marinade adhesion and flavor infusion.
02 - Adjust honey quantity based on its sweetness; start with less and add after tasting.
03 - Dried thyme can be replaced with fresh thyme at a threefold quantity for a brighter herbal note.
04 - Do not exceed 15 minutes for marinating to avoid mushy texture.
05 - Monitor baking time closely; ovens differ, so begin checking for doneness at 15 minutes.
