Flaky hand pies filled with spiced apple mix, baked crisp and golden using the air fryer.

# Everything You’ll Need:

→ Apple Filling

01 - 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
02 - 2 tablespoons brown sugar
03 - 1 teaspoon lemon juice
04 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
05 - 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
06 - 1 teaspoon cornstarch

→ Pastry and Topping

07 - 1 box refrigerated pie crusts (2 sheets), thawed
08 - 1 large egg, beaten
09 - 1 tablespoon milk
10 - 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
11 - Powdered sugar or glaze, optional, for drizzling

# Steps to Cook:

01 - Combine diced apples, brown sugar, lemon juice, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and cornstarch in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat for 5 to 6 minutes until apples soften and the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and cool completely.
02 - Unroll pie crust sheets. Using a 4 to 5 inch round cutter, cut out 8 equal rounds. Re-roll scraps if necessary to achieve full quantity.
03 - Place about 1 tablespoon of cooled apple filling in the center of 4 pastry rounds. Cover each with another round and press edges firmly with a fork to seal.
04 - Whisk beaten egg with milk. Brush tops of sealed hand pies with egg wash and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
05 - Preheat air fryer to 350°F for 3 minutes before cooking.
06 - Place hand pies in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes or until pastry is golden and crisp. Cook in batches if necessary.
07 - Allow hand pies to cool slightly. Optionally dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with glaze before serving.

# Extra Suggestions:

01 - Ensure the apple filling is fully cooled before filling to prevent soggy pastry.
02 - Spices can be adjusted to personal preference.
03 - Serve warm for optimal flavor.
